Tablighi Jamaat in the UK

Markaz, mosques and community life across the UK.

How the work is organised

In the UK, Tablighi work typically centres around local Markaz mosques — regional hubs that coordinate weekly gatherings, learning circles and short spiritual retreats (khuruj). Alongside these Markaz mosques, many local mosques hold their own weekly Tablighi gatherings.

Weekly gatherings

  • Shab-e-Jumu'ah / weekly gathering — sittings in the mosque for reminders, learning and mashwara.
  • Ta'leem circles — short daily readings from established works, in the mosque and at home.
  • Local mashwara — a consultative meeting to coordinate outreach and mosque support locally.

Khuruj (short spiritual retreats)

Participants often set aside short blocks of time — commonly a few days, or longer where circumstances permit — to travel to another mosque, live simply, engage in prayer, learning and peaceful invitation, and return to their normal lives spiritually refreshed. See our Understanding Khuruj page for a fuller explainer.

Community services

  • Daily and Jumu'ah prayer congregations.
  • Islamic classes for children, youth and adults.
  • New Muslim support and companionship.
  • Family and community events.
